Friend's Businesses

The Voyeur of Fashion, Art, & Politics - I met Dreama via her husband when we worked together at the office. Funny story, but the very DAY I met Dreama in person, she voluntarily came to help me move out of my ex-fiance's apartment and into my new life. She and her husband literally helped to "save" me from doom. Friends like this were MEANT to be!

Zazen Photo Atlanta Photographer Matt Lane - specializing in portraiture, still-life, head-shots, etc. my sexy hubby the photographer.

Sparks Grove - Our dear Minsoo is CCO.

Sarah Bockel Fine Art Advisory Services - I know Sarah from my monthly Wine Club (referred by a mutual friend). Ah yes, she knows all things which are "fine art" even if they are edible/drinkable!

Mikamy Meadows - Green friendly body, pet, and home products. I met Amy at work several years ago, although now I am totally envious that she's living her DREAM and not stuck in a grey cubical working to death for Corporate America. GO AMY!

Erika Morrell Massages - my best friend & massage therapist, we met via mutual friend long ago during the "Bridget Jones Diary 2" movie. She wanted to eat my popcorn, but I told her to get her own bowl. LOL.

Get Coffee - our local coffee shop. Met the owner's daughter's boyfriend online in our car club forum, and later found out he was doing their website. Long story short, they let us hang some of Matt's photography there, and we've been regular's ever since!

The Hair Lounge - Debi's hair salon. Met Debi through her hubby, who worked with my hubby in the office. Now she's my hair stylist.

Wii Fit

We pre-ordered the Wii Fit. In our endless quest of trying to get Fit, and hoping that the new, next best toy would be the answer to our fitness issues.
-
yeah I'm lovin the Wii Fit. It works only if I do it every day for 30 mins a day.
I've been pretty good about doing it, but not getting my full 30 mins which is why I'm not losing weight very quickly. however, I can tell it is working slowly but surely.
There's all these exercises, and the program gives you "fit credits" or minutes for each exercise.
If you do an exercise and you don't do it correctly or you are too shaky (it measures your core balance, etc), then it will only give you 1 min even if you worked out for 3. So, by that standard, you COULD be on it for 1 hr, but it may have only credited you the 30 mins of "fit credits" you did. Also, you have to navigate thru the menus to do different exercises. IT's not just one big workout, and navigating the menus can eat up your time also. So usually if I was REALLY good, I could do a 45 min timeframe of working out on it, and get 30 mins of "fit credits" and then I'm meeting the bare minimum they recommend. There are some really good yoga moves on there. I like it.
-
It's great for the core though, I need to get my abs in shape now.
-
Matt needs to do it more consistently. The program is funny, it will ask me "how is Matt doing? I haven't seen him in a while" and such. It will actually gently "scold" you if you don't do it often enough. so cute. I need the motivation though! it's not evil/mean tho, it's just matter of fact. Matt finally got on there once when he had missed 13 days. It gave him a hard time about being inconsistent, but also it said it missed him. LOL.
-
The other spiffy thing, is that you can just turn it on to weigh yourself and get your BMI for the day, and then turn it off and go workout elsewhere. It has a screen where I can input time for the workouts I did away from home, and then it gives you a nice graph of your weight loss (or gain).
-
It gives you tips on sleeping better, eating better, etc.
-
Once when I weighed myself after being off it for 3 days, I had gained 2 lbs. So the program asked me why I thought I had gained. It had this list like "drinking too much" , "snacking too much" etc. Hilarious! You can't progress to the next screen without confessing your "Sins" haha.
-
damn vacation - I gained FOUR lbs. What a depressing number! blah.

of Diet Coke PLUS & my new FAVE book

a big relaxing ahhh . . .
Last night I finally finished reading "Eat Love Pray" by Elizabeth Gilbert. oh now this is what I have waited for. Not only a real-life-woman's story, but she explains HOW she found herself, and how to meditate, and in real-world examples that I can understand.
I am so INSPIRED by this woman's story.
I want to find my own "blue pearl" of enlightenment!
and learn Italian whilst dining in Italy
and travel to Bali
oh my.
that would just be delightful!
but
until I have the money to travel so far and for so long
I will have to make do
with yoga & meditation here.
and
sip my Diet Coke Plus.

Liquor in the Front, Poker in the . . .

Yeah so anyhoo. I'm off to Poker night at Midget Mansion tonight. That's my friend Jason's nickname for his house. No I do not have anything against shorter than average folks, nor would I ever use the word "midget" in a derogatory manner, but if Jason's self-deprecating humor dictates that the house be called "Midget Mansion" so be it.

wish me luck. I'm very rusty at poker, it's been a while. I do hope it's only Texas Hold 'Em.

Life in the Fast Lane

Well, as you can see, I'm a slow blogger. As much as I type everyday, you'd think I could get this thing going.
-
Anyhoo, nuff of that. WOW life has changed since the last entry. It's been almost 1.5 yrs!
I did get a new job afterall, but staying within the same company. I'm now an "ITIL Change Analyst" (well that is the job title), but my role is "Change Manager" (meaning that is the work I do), and the payband is something like "Project Manager" (meaning that is the closest title they have for us even tho we really aren't project managers and have an excuse to pay us less $, I think). Talk about confusing! This job is much better and less stressful than my last one, so we'll see how it goes. I've almost been doing it a year now, fun fun.
-
Ok so what else is new? I have a facebook account & a myspace page - both of which I neglect horribly. We remodeled the kitchen - we tried to sell the house and move downtown, but then we decided to stay. Matt sort-of-took-over the camera he got me for Christmas in 2006 and became a photographer. The business name is Zazen Photo - and I am now his business manager/ model/ assistant/ everything else. We've taken a few vacations, and I think that is it in a nutshell. Of course there's just not enough time to tell it all.
Most recently, we've hung some of his photography in a local Get Coffee shop, (Say HI to Durinda the owner if you stop by) and at a local hair salon called the Hair Lounge: (say hello to Debi there).
-
Matt's also the photographer for a new client Amy of Mikamy Meadows. I used to work with Amy back in Ohio a few years back. She is a dog-lover, wonderful nature/organic person, and just all around fun woman. I am proud that we get to photograph her earth-friendly products! Check them out. Hint: you can get discounts on her products if you get on her mailing list for the newsletter and enter all her contests. Currently there's a "salsa recipe" contest going.
We just got back from a trip to the beach. Staying at a hotel on Treasure Island just near St. Petersburg Florida, and that's where my sister Jamie lives with her son Michael. I love being an auntie. I got to play with him in the ocean this weekend. That was the highlight of my trip, other than eating at Crabby Bill's mmm mmm mmm. Sunburn was the lowlight. yeah. ouch! just say NO to spray sunscreen cans.
-
Yesterday, we took our Dog Sport to Sope Creek for a hike and he somehow cut the pad of his Left front paw. I have been trying to keep it disinfected and bandaged up with neosporin, but the darn dog keeps removing the bandage and licking the heck out of it. On the upside, he isn't wincing or favoring that paw at all, he acts like it's no big deal, so maybe it's okay to leave it unbandaged? I'm still keeping an eye on it. I don't want him to get infected. Glad it doesn't hurt him tho. Stubborn darn dog!
-
Current Goals: expand the Zazen Photo business further, pay off credit card, get in shape (I'm finally giving in and getting a YMCA membership so I can work-out cardio every AM), meditation/yoga, and resting until the next vacation.
-
Upcoming news for the future: Poker at Midget Mansion, my first Hair Lounge visit, Pin-up Style Photo Shoot for The Voyeur Magazine, Mikamy Meadows Party, wedding in NYC, Bahamas Cruise, paying off credit card, getting into shape.
