Party, Party, Party, and Party some more...

I'm very relieved to discover I'm NOT too old for this. We have been partying our little tooshies off! Let me try to recap...
Saturday the 17th -
West Grant Park Neighborhood Block Party - this was a nice tame party with kids, parents, a bonfire, and live music. It was also the first FREEZING cold night of the year here, so everybody was bundled up to the gills. I made Fajita Chili, with green chile peppers in it. very good hit, but hard to keep warm, even in the crock pot, as everything was outdoors for this party. Thankfully, someone got me a power cable to run to my crockpot plug, but it took so long to warm up, it wasn't devoured before we had to leave. We did have some fun though. Chris and Mina and little Ian were there, it was fun. Then we skeddaddled on over to Alex's party that evening.
Alex's Divorce Party - the man is finally free, and we celebrated as he requested. With a night at his favorite debaucherized establishment. I wore my pole party shirt in honor of the event. (no pics allowed, we were at the PP, hee hee hee!).

Friday the 23rd
Dinner at Serpas - We tried a new restaurant called Serpas. It's located in Studioplex lofts on Auburn. The moment we walked in the door, one of our songs started up - Lover's Lane Island Paradise. Oh yeah. Groovy music as they walk you to your table. The food was to DIE for (so good), and the wine was amazing also. Delicious! Then we walked down 2 doors to Matt Odom's Photography Show at Art Department - I bought one of his pieces called "Dirty Hands". We originally met Matt in Castleberry Hill at the Atlanta Photographer's Guild meet up at Elliott Street Pub. He and his girlfriend Ashley are just awesome/adorable/fun/creative people. We love hanging out with them.
Then we skipped on over to The Porter (a pub in Little 5 Points) with some friends, and finally back home.

Saturday the 24th
The Double-A Birthday Basher Matt's Photos. As is the case every year, I have to compete with Halloween for my birthday. This year Alex and I did a joint party the weekend between our birthdays, and it ended up being a total blast! Much better turn out, since folks weren't having Halloween conflicts. Such an awesome party, even the neighbors drove by asking for our play-list. We didn't shut it down until 3:30am that night. There was dancing, shots, birthday cake, ice cream, bubblegum vodka, and someone DID stick it in the mashed potatoes. just kidding.

Tuesday the 27th
Got my hair touched up by Ms. Debi, and as I was leaving, my GPS notified me that all roads north (aka back home) were RED. It was raining, it was getting dark, traffic was a mess. I had a No Mas coupon in my purse. So I went to No Mas. Called a few friends, and Holly, Ben, and later Erika met me there. Woo hoo! more early birthday fun. Drove home much later, after traffic died down.

Thursday the 29th
Matt took me out for dinner at Season's 52. Later Erika came by with some Bitch Bubbly (that I didn't know existed, but I was pleased to discover), and we had some cocktails before bedtime.
-
Friday we missed our friend Walter's party, but we were "plum-tuckered-out!"

Bad Girl

Today is my friend Holly's birthday (well and Nikki's too, but she's in the land of the mountains)! Per Holly's request we are headed to Dantanna's for dinner/cocktails before we head on to a Fashion Designer party to benefit Ronald McDonald House.
Since we'll be at one of the hottest Cigar Bar's in town, I figured I bring along a little somethin' I've been saving since my 30th birthday party. A gift from my pal Tom - my 1926 40th Anniversary edition Padron Torpedo. Ooooh yes. If the girl's gotta be bad, she's gonna be really really bad.

The Dirty Thirty Birthday Party

Photo Credit goes to either Ruth or Matt (I honestly cannot remember who took this picture). Anywayz . . .
Turning Thirty has been an absolute blast thus far.
The signature drink of the evening was the "Dirty Banana" - and there was much dancing and fun had by all. I even got to play Guitar Hero for the first time. Woo hoo!
THANK YOU! to all my dear friends who came to the party and made it a special night to remember! I love you guys!!!

That's It, I'm rescheduling my Birthdate next year!

Well, as you know, the Cruise was awesome fun. April definitely got the present of a lifetime. I'm so happy for her. Happy 30th my dear!
-
That makes 4 people this year who have turned 30 yrs old. I'm so happy for them all.
-
One of my dear friends wanted to go someplace tropical, so we went to the Bahamas for her FebruaryBirthday. Another friend had a dinner party, and then another party at my house (I hosted). Etc. I've been there through them all, and didn't miss a beat.
-
Now I know circumstances arise that can't always be reckoned with - but I was very disappointed that my 30th Birthday seems to have been forgotten or put on the back-burner this year. A lot of my very CLOSE friends are not able to make the big celebration this year. I was actually quite depressed about it for a few days. I can't have my Birthday near the actual date, because of Frickin' Halloween (which is always competes with my birthday every year, this isn't new, but THIS year Halloween is on a FRIDAY, so that kinda screws the whole weekend. Also, I have another friend having her birthday 2 days after Halloween, so that REALLY means I can't have a party or any celebrating for mine that weekend.
and so I pushed it back a weekend. Still people can't attend. Well, that does it.
-
I'm rescheduling my Birthday next year. I'm going to celebrate 1 month earlier next year. I don't care if that means I'm no longer a Scorpio and have to become a Libra.
-
F--- it! I'm going to have a party next year that people will NEVER forget, and nobody will have ANY excuses or scheduling conflicts - well I hope anyway.

Stupid Halloween. ;-D

Thursday - worked all day, crappy day at work, then Aunt Susan & Uncle Tom met us for Dinner at Carrabba's and we caught up on family news. There are 2 weddings coming up in October in Florida. WOO HOO!
Unfortunately, Matt and I are going on a cruise and will miss them both. Bummer. But at least we are missing them due to a cruise, not work or something boring. YAY!
-
Friday was a spontaneous adventure. Driving home after work's worst week ever (I do not believe I'm exaggerating here), my stressed out-self resolved to meet the hubby at Tijuana Joe's for a nip of something potent and a bite of chips and salsa/queso.
To my pleasant surprise, my dear friend Kat was there with the rest of the RBS crew. Girl-talk commenced, and then an invitation to join them for dinner at Rumi's Kitchen - a delightful Persian restaurant. We dined on some fabulous food (Rumi's Dip, Roasted Salmon, Jekyl Wine) - oh it was divine!
Then home to hang out with my sweetie pie!
-
Saturday AM - I was oncall, and work woke me up with a page at 8:50am. arggg!!!! but it was all right by 9:30am. sigh.
Matt got a nice massage from our fave massage therapist, and then we went to the mall. Matt wanted to get an iPhone, but the line was insane. We went to Home Depot instead to get a present for a friend's Birthday.
Then the Birthday Party was AWESOME!
This party had grandparents, parents, singles, kids, and babies, and EVERYBODY got along and had a blast. Yes there was alcohol at the party, but that wasn't the reason. It was just that magical kind of day where the sun shines down and everybody is in a good mood.
Somehow, quite by accident, I was the one who made the crying babies or kiddies start laughing again. My babysitter instincts kicked in and it was so much fun. Oh yeah and although I didn't drink one (I'm low-carbing it), I learned how to make a Mojito in a hurry (they make theirs with spiced dark rum, ginger ale, lime juice, and mint), very very tasty supposedly.
I had to leave the party early (8pm), the kids begged me to stay but I couldn't. Since it was my week to work the Sunday Maintenance Window, and as fate would have it, it was FOUR hour window. I woke up at 1:30am with a nasty headache from the party (no not hangover headache, more like a back-out-of-alignment-from-lifting-50lb kids all night headeache). I suffered through until about 6:30am then I got back to sleep until 10:30am.
On the upside, I DID get some homework done for a project, and fixed that stupid Denon UD-m50 CD player that was stuck. I figured out that I was the one who broke it by putting 2 cd's into a 1cd slot I fixed it, tested it, then put it back together, and plugged it in to all the speakers/wires. then it decided not to work. So I took it apart again, then it worked. I put the cover back on, it was broken. I loosened the last 2 screws and WHAT THE HECK - it worked. I'll be darned why 2 loose screws a good cdplayer makes, but yippee!
-
Sunday - we stayed home while I tried to recover from the night before, and then we did a small photoshoot for a project, and then went to bed very early.
